Just a few years ago, I had no idea there were different kinds of candle wax: paraffin, beeswax, soy, coconut… and a mix of them all.
Then I learned that most commercially made candles (think Bath and Body Works or candles found at big box stores) are made from paraffin wax.
Here’s the issue: when paraffin candles burn, they emit harmful toxic chemicals.
When I started my business, I knew that I only wanted to use soy wax because of all of the benefits:
- It burns cooler and lasts longer than paraffin wax.
- It is more sustainable than paraffin wax since paraffin is made from petroleum, a fossil fuel which cannot be renewed. It is made from natural vegetable soybeans. The oil is extracted from the beans, then hydrogenated to make a solid wax.
- The most important: They release less soot and toxins into the air so they’re better for the environment, pets and humans.
Soy is the way to go!
